The Dominion Post - NIYA’s story
Last month, we were interviewed by The Dominion Post for a profile on NIYA.
Adibah, Haris, and Sondos were all interviewed and spoke beautifully on NIYA’s vision.
”It’s a home where we want people to know that they’ll always have a place no matter who they are or where they are in their journey.” - Adibah

Film Petition #theyareusshutdown
In June 2021, it was announced that a film titled ‘They Are Us’ would be made about the March 15 Christchurch mosque attacks.
In response, we created a petition calling for the cancellation of the film and have reached over 75,000 signatures - Jazakallah Khair for all your support!
The film has since been put on hold.
A Kōrero on Palestine at Parliament
In May 2021, we held a demonstration at Parliament in support of our brothers and sisters in Palestine.
Sondos Qur'aan addressed the rally, speaking of the tragedies suffered by Palestinians under the state of Israel.
Green MP Ricardo Menendez and Labour MP Vanushi Walters were in attendance for this.
Our secretary Khadro Mohamed has created a reading list which you can access below for more resources about the Palestinian crisis.
